Afternoon on the Veranda

This painting was a color study done in 1 hour on site at Rancho Camulos with a live model. I was very happy to find someone willing to sit for me while I worked.

With such a time limit you work decisively. I hope to do a larger studio painting from this quick sketch. I like the fresh feeling that came across here, but I do see areas I hope to improve upon when I do the final piece.

Thank you Doris. I am looking forward to using this sketch as the color study for the larger piece. We will see how it works out. Hopefully I can retain the freshness while bringing in some refinements. It is always an adventure.

This is beautiful! Did you paint this after lunch?

I sent Beth the painting I did of her.

This morning, I drove out to Stoney Point out in Chatsworth and painted the rocks. It's gorgeous out there!
