Chasing Open Spaces is an exhibit that has opened my eyes to extraordinary scenes of our natural landscapes in and around the Santa Clarita Valley.
When I first moved up here 28 years ago I saw how pretty the rolling golden hills were, yet through my art and painting do I ultimately realize how intensely beautiful it is.
This scene took my breath away, so untouched and vast. God how beautiful I thought how amazing it would be to paint this.
I even tried an entirely new earth palette. The colors I came up with using only black, white, brunt sienna and yellow orche was amazing. The whole process from first sight to finished piece was amazing.
