As I continue to paint the natural areas around my town, I keep thinking of places I had been to over the years. The Narrows came to mind one day, and I just couldn't shake the idea of painting this special place.
I became obsessed with it. I almost felt it was like a calling to get there and paint this thing. So I did. I hiked in and wandered till this narrow area between the mountains came into view. I was alone and a bit on alert, since I usually do not hike solo. Funny how your memory of a place is quite different than the reality.
There is a sensation when you stand beside these massive vertical walls which I have tried to capture through my pigment. A feeling of passage, as though you are walking through to a secret place which will reveal something very beautiful and special. I felt satisfied once I touched the cool rock walls. Standing there quietly as "The Narrows" held my gaze.

Awesome. I feel your excitement even before I read your story.
